Successful Clean Up Day
|
Building A Community A Community Thats Building Relationships May 14th in partnership with members of the Uxbridge Parks and Recreation Department the Save the South Balsam Street Play Park Group cleaned up the South Balsam Street Park. While dropping off some drinking water for the thirsty volunteers I noticed that the fence repairs were already underway. Despite the drizzle there were numerous volunteers working away with many bags of refuse and piles of tree branches all ready for pick up. As a local REALTOR® it does my heart good to see a community take ownership of issues in their neighbourhood and work together to the benefit of the community. Sarah Pratt and all those who worked with her to save the park, from being decommissioned, and made a commitment to the town to do a spring clean up every year are to be commended. From the young 10 year old girl who on her own initiative went door to door to gather signatures on a petition to those who wrote to council and those who were able to attend the council meeting dealing with the park congratulations. To all those who stepped up to the plate to help with the cleanup a super congratulations on the effort and a job well done. Councilor Jacob Mantle, wearing the dark shirt in the background, brought some heavy equipment to the party. Save the South Balsam Street Play Park |

That's exciting Kathy, it's great to see people from the community get together and work for the common good. I think we are starting to see more and more of that happening.
Malcolm - Uxbridge is working on becoming a community of character
Kathy,
These cleanup days can be quite good, but I think that they are really only successful in smaller communities.
Brian
Brian - every neighbourhood surrounding or near a park could be like a small community ..... but it is the people living there that actually make it a community no matter how large or small it may be.
Kathy -Great community spirit! You're obviously so community minded and you seem to be involved in all sorts of "good deeds"
Cheers!!!
David - its about the community and making it a better place for everyone ..... it is similiar to how you would eat an elephant ..... one bite at a time ..... if we all did just one thing a day, week, month or year, no matter how small, the world would become a better place.
Hello Kathy and Vegas Bob likes your post and communities like the one in your post, thanks for the read!
VB ;o)
Robert - people getting involved and taking ownership of the issues helps build great communities.
Yeah Sarah!!! What a special young woman. I love stories like this. I could read about them all day long. She is a wonderful addition to any community :) Thanks for sharing.
Christina - it's members of the community like Sara, and the group that worked with her, that make Uxbridge the community that it is.
